Getting A Library Card
If you live in the service area of the Ruth Hughes Memorial District Library (Imlay City, Imlay Township, and Attica Township), you are eligible for a library card. To get your card, simply stop in at either of our branches and fill out an application form.
Applicants must provide a valid photo ID with the current address on it, such as a driver’s license, passport, or state ID card. If your identification does not have your current address on it, you can also bring in a piece of recent mail, such as a lease or utility bill that lists your current place of residence.
Minors
Minors (under age 18) must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian when applying for a card. The parent or legal guardian must provide the same valid ID as stated above. By signing the application, the parent or legal guardian agrees to be liable for payment for or return of the materials identified in that library record.
Co-Op Cards
If you live in the service area of a library that is a member of the Valley Library Consortium, or the Mideastern Michigan Library Cooperative, you can also qualify for a card with us. If you are uncertain about if you qualify for this card, come ask us at the library and we will help you determine if you qualify or not.
Co-op cards have restricted access to some services offered by the library, such as access to digital content through the Libby and Hoopla apps.
Lost Cards
Lost cards must be reported immediately because the patron is responsible for all materials checked out to their card.
